Inside Art Basel Hong Kong 2019

The seventh edition of Art Basel is finally in Hong Kong. It is one of the most leading art fair in Asia. All the art lovers from around the world have been waiting for Art Basel in Hong Kong. This year’s fair is showcasing 242 galleries from 35 galleries, Art Basel Hong is open to the public from March 29-31, 2019.

KAWS
  • Thanks to Kaws big opening of his largest sculpture at Victoria Harbor.
  • KAWS:HOLIDAY’s relaxes in Hong Kong until the end of March.
  • “I wanted to create a work that was really about just relaxing- taking time for yourself and just laying down and looking up,” said Brain Donnelly.

Do Ho Suh
  • South Korean sculptor Do Ho Suh is known for recreating his past homes out of translucent fabrics.
  • Lehmann Maupin gallery has been representing Such since 1997, co founder Rachel Lehhman explains his work as he translates big ideas into something that can be understood by everyone… "lots of people are longing for a house, a place, a country, a culture, a political system- whatever is home to them.”
Takashi Murakami
  • There is something not everyone knows about him is that he’s the founder of his own art gallery called Kaikai Kiki in Tokyo.
  • He supports and represents the next generation of Japanese artists in his gallery. They are definitely the artists to watch for.
  • His gallery also representing some international figures like Mark Grotjahn, Matthew Monahan and Aya Takano.
Samson Young
  • He is being represented by Edouard Malingue Gallery.
  • His installation titled Music While You Work at first looks like an giant sneaker, in fact he transformed a bumper car into a sneaker.
