Mert Palanci is an Istanbul-based artist whose work centers around abstract portraits and distorted images of popular culture figures. The ethnic diversity within Turkish culture as well as the Sufi philosophy inspire the vivid color palette and the verses he uses in the backgrounds of some of his paintings; and the grotesque, chaotic, melting faces that he paint are mostly a commentary on the deformity of the notions of sincerity, honesty, and authenticity of the artist’s own generation, which is the Generation X.

He had his first showcase in October 2018 and since then he has been broadening his portfolio with a series of digital artworks.
